Debut author Robin Rotham tells a scorching tale of the ultimate virginal late-bloomer and the two men who are determined to have her.
The Garathani are a dying race much in need of a genetic boost. The last great war decimated their population, especially the women and children. Fortunately human DNA was a close enough match, so after much deal making, and recruiting, droves of women are willing to take the year long trek to become happily pregnant and sexually satisfied incubators.
Dr. Monica Teague has been given care over the women, to prepare them for their new life, but even she has a lot of unanswered questions about the Garathani.
Commander Kellen senses something different about the good Dr. Teague. If his suspicions are correct, then she is a rare and incredible find, one he doesn’t plan to let go anytime soon. But when she learns her true nature, will she be willing to accept Garathani’s new cultural rules? Or his sexual dominance?
Ms. Rotham lavishes great detail to pull readers into her story. The pace was nice and brisk for the most part, only slowing down for the extended and numerous sex scenes. I do wish the plot had been more fully realized to act as a balance for the story.
As for those aforementioned scenes, they were fiery hot! Good thing the story’s an e-book and not paper! A couple of the sex scenes were a tad clinical, and readers should take note that the author skates what some may consider a dangerous edge, when it comes to forced seduction. But I think Ms. Rotham does manage to convey and establish the heroine’s perspective before and after, thus lessening any outward sting. Readers should take note that this story also contains BDSM elements and ménage.
