Mayda, the queen's chief handmaiden, needed to get to capital city. First, she needed to get through the woods, where rebels were waiting to attack. Simeon, a soldier hand picked by the king to escort her, had a hard time keeping his mind on his assignment. Mayda decided, after running through the woods, she needed a bath. She strips naked and invites Simeon in the cold water. Their passion quickly heat things up.

Finally, they reach capital city and a web of lies are revealed.

First, I had to keep the names straight, and then I was able to focus on the story. Although this is a short novella, I needed more build up between these two characters. I wanted something more but I realized the story was over. Ms. Abbott did however impress me with her wonderful dialogue. It put me there.
