She enlists the help of her friend Bonnie, a theologian and psychologist to help her understand why she's having these strange dreams. Bonnie discovers supernatural symbols engraved on the bed's headboard. After deciphering the meaning of the symbols, Karen researches the bed's history and finds that it has quite a storied past.

Despite being warned that she could tampering with history, Karen is determined to unlock the bed's secrets and reconnect with Standing Deer. She returns to her dream world and gets more than she bargained for when she learns just how rough and wild the old West could be.

Home Of The Braves is Ackerson's first novel and a good first effort. The story is solid, and the character's are believable and engaging. Anyone who has been longing to read more stories set in this time period should read Home Of The Braves .
