Nina's been hiding something for her whole life. She's really a “funny girl”. She's learned the hard way that the funny girls don't get the dates. Now it's time to go to her high school reunion, and she wants to shine!
While Tears of a Class Clown is a great read, it's not as funny as I expected it to be. I thought Nina bordered on the edge of self-pity rather than funny self-deprecating. There were some points that made me smile. Ms. Alterman's writing style is light and easy to read, and her characters are memorable. There's something unique about each one.
I can sympathize with the heroine, and I hoped she'd find some happiness by the end of the book.
It's a charming and entertaining read, and I won't forget Nina and her grasps at finding herself in a world that can't see who she really is.
