A Paranormal Romance

The only thing that could have been more fun than reading this novel would have to be being present with authors while they were collaborating.  The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes was a total blast from beginning  to end….and it is easy to imagine that Ms. Crusie, Ms. Dreyer, and Ms. Stuart had more than a little fun with the premise, the plot, and the characters.  It was a smooth read -- like watching a movie on a screen.

Lizzie, Mare, and Dee Fortune are three sisters who have spent their lives on the run and hiding their magic powers (each has a unique specialty) from everyone even, and especially, the men in their lives.  Their troubles double when their Aunt Xan “Vampira and Elvira, Queen of the Night, and the Dragon Lady and Morticia Adamms with a little bit of Jackie Kennedy thrown in to make it interesting” sends them their true loves to distract them so that she can steal their powers.  And boy are their true loves hot — almost hot enough for the sister  to gladly unburden their, up to this point, unwanted powers — almost. The thought of losing their power binds them closer together to fight Xan and to fight for true love.

This is the most fun I have had reading a book — EVER.  The sex is hot, the heroines are strong and smart, the men are sexy, and Aunt Xan is the best villain to ever grace a romance novel.  If I didn’t like the heroines so much, I would have gladly wanted the villain to win because she was so well written.  I suggest that anyone who plans this as a beach read take plenty of sunscreen, because you will not want to put it down.
