Lucinda Betts' Night Spell is a collection of three erotic short stories. In My Captor , a politician's daughter learns to trust a sexy stranger holding her captive and at his sexual mercy. In Winged Dreams , a young woman is forced to choose a husband, and quickly learns that looks can be deceiving. And in the last short story, Bed Sport , a thief gets more than she bargains for when she encroaches on a dragon's lair in hopes of stealing the Jewel of Dragonkind.
Ms. Betts' stories have a very sexy, dreamlike quality about them. Her writing style flows like silk and is full of beautiful imagery. I found each story engaging, and paced to perfection. There were a few phrases in the My Captor story that set me back, however. I understand capture fantasy stories are just that— fantasies , and they skate a fine line; however, the heroine referred to the hero's intent to "molest" her more than once, and that disturbed me somewhat. On the other hand, Winged Dreams and Bed Sport made me want to go out and buy everything Ms. Betts has ever written. Both stories held me in fascination from the beginning and didn't let me go until I'd turned the final page.
Night Spell is an engrossing, gripping book of sexual tension and fantasy. Lucinda Betts offers a fresh and enticing view of the magical world. This is very hot stuff. I recommend this book, and look forward to reading more of Ms. Betts' work in the future.
