A Comedy, Romantic Suspense E-book

Heaving Bosoms is a topsy (literally) turvy adventure that begins in the icy Boston rain and climaxes in a hurricane in the Cayman Islands. It all starts when Tonia Fuller and her Manolos are rescued not once, but twice, by dashing soon-to-be Dr. Raphael Beachamp. While doing his best to make sure she doesn't succumb to dire concussion symptoms, the two realize that they have serious chemistry. Of course, this gets complicated by little things like the mafia, offshore bank accounts, butt tattoos, kidnappings, and some good old fashioned jealousy. Yes, that does say butt tattoos.

Right away, the title made me love the story. Any romance writer will appreciate the “in joke” from our predecessors in the 80's genre, and the heroine happens to be busty (top heavy as Raphael called her) so it just really worked. The plot was well strategized and paced very well, and the characters were quirky and each distinct from each other. The love scenes were explicit and they were also very hot and tantalizing. That being said, there was also enough sweetness to the bedroom scenes that made the hotness even more genuine. My only wish is that Tonia would have stayed a little saucier, as she seemed a little watered down when her nemesis, Kendra was introduced Most likely it was done to show the differences between the characters, but I missed some of her earlier precocious banter with Raphael

This was a fun read and a keeper. I am a big fan of regular people being put into extraordinary circumstances, and I am sure I laughed out loud more than a few times. The madcap style reminded of why I enjoy similar novels by Jennifer Crusie and Janet Evanovich. I look forward to more great reads from Ashlyn Chase.
