What if Buffy found out she was a vampire slayer after she turned 32 and had a 15 year old daughter?
Cassidy Burke is a single mother, owner of her own cleaning company, and has now found out that she is the heir apparent to the Burke legacy of dusting demons. When her guide shows up on her 32nd birthday to inform her of her new job as La Sombra’s resident demon duster, Cass thinks the woman has escaped from the local mental institution. When the woman tells her that she can identify and hurt demons with the solution in the spray bottle that she pulls from her seemingly bottomless purse ala Mary Poppins, Cass is sure that the men with the nets are only steps away. She accidentally sprays her appliance repair man and her window with the green flecked liquid and is shocked to find the man smoking and screaming out of her kitchen…and the cleanest darn window ever!
Suddenly she starts to exhibit super strength and martial arts skills and begins taking things a bit more seriously, listening to the woman’s story of the Burke women family destiny. Now she is spraying everyone in sight, dusting demons, and pissing off the demon in charge of the town. Her already big problems are now even larger, and the two new men in her life aren’t making it any better. The father of her child has returned to town, which is tricky to explain as she had told her daughter he was dead. She has also started dating a hunky new client, who not only gives her a night of mind blowing sex but turns out to be a demon. Could life get any more complicated?
Buy the book to find out how much more twisted Cassidy’s life gets, you won’t regret it. Despite being slightly reminiscent of Buffy and Julie Kenner’s demon hunter mom series, this book has a lot of original details. It is very funny with a heroine who is quick with the snarky comebacks. Maureen Child has sucked me into her new series and I can’t wait to read the next one!4 ½ Kisses
