A Historical Romance
Lady Fiona Turnbridge knew things by just looking at people. Some called her ‘touched' but Fiona used her extra sense to steer through the eat or be eaten waters of the Ton. From the moment she saw him, Fiona knew Ian Cabott would be someone important in her life. Since he was the Duke of Dunsford, she really didn't understand all that it would entail.
Woken in the middle of the night, Ian found a young woman on his doorstep. Although he tried to send Fiona on her away, the gun in her hand said otherwise. As a surgeon, it was his duty to help to the sick. But since when did that include a girl's cat?
Fiona knew she was in trouble when she woke up the next morning in Ian Cabott's house. There was no choice but to brazen the situation out and sneak home. Ian needed to get married and Fiona was the perfect candidate. Though he had no intention of letting her escape, he let her travel home in order to plan his campaign. Scandal struck, forcing him to modify his plans. Fiona might agree to become engaged, but she had no intention of marrying. It was up to Ian to convince her, scandal or not, he wanted her. Indeed, he needed to convince her they were meant to be together or risk losing her all together.
The nice, smooth writing style, combined with a good dose of humor, made this a very entertaining novel. The characters and their individual foibles created a perfect backdrop for a romance. Although The Duke's Proposal didn't have an intricate plot structure, Ian and Fiona were interesting and lively enough to make the book an enjoyable read. If you want to be swept away to the past and led on a merry romp, don't miss Leslie LaFoy's newest romance, The Duke's Proposal.
